Jack's Firehouse
Philadelphia, PA
Latest Review
Jack’s Firehouse Restaurant is situated in a 19th Century Firehouse in the charming Fairmount Neighborhood of Philadelphia. Much of the original mahogany interior, wood plank floors, and even the brass fire pole remain intact to provide one of the most unique dining settings in the region. We are located directly across the street from the Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site. From his distinctive Southern drawl to his trademark duds - denim bib overalls and a red and white truckers cap heralding "Save the Farm",- Jack McDavid (Owner and Chef)is a "good ol' boy" with a unique recipe for success. Jack's resolutely American regional style is clearly defined by his commitment to using products that are locally grown and raised. He buys from 250-300 farmers and breeders, and invests in local farms and greenhouses so that he can get perfect vegetables and herbs all year round. Everything served in his restaurants are McDavid-made - from mayonnaise and ketchup, to biscuits and chocolate chip cookies.

Harold's Chicken Shack
Chicago, IL
Latest Review
The reason for going to Harold's is a chicken dinner which is a half or quarter chicken, or 3 to 5 wings, served with french fries, two pieces of white bread, and a cup of cole slaw. The chicken can be served plain, but usually either hot or mild sauce is added. In Chicago-style fried chicken, the sauce is drizzled over the chicken and fries which results in the chicken skin softening as it soaks up the sauce. A common practice is to take the sauce soaked fries and place them between the bread. Chicagoans call this "making a fry sandwich". Some of the very best chicken you will ever experience. There are many locations in the Chicago area.

Glenda's Creole Kitchen
Breaux Bridge, LA
Latest Review
Breaux Bridge – Anthony Bourdain with the Travel Channel visited South Louisiana during the month of June. One of his stops was Glenda’s Creole/Cajun Kitchen, a family-owned and operated restaurant located on La. 31/Main Hwy. in the Poche Bridge area. Glenda Broussard and her daughters Kayla and Kasie Rossyion have been serving delicious plate lunches for 11 years. Representatives from the Travel Channel heard about Glenda’s by word of mouth. In June they stopped by to film a segment which is scheduled to debut on the Travel Channel on Monday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. Bourdain was interested in how Glenda prepared her catfish courtbouillon. Glenda says with a big smile “Anthony Bourdain ate everything in his plate.” Glenda’s menu consists of various dishes such as her award-winning sweet potato sweet dough pie and smothered okra. She offers homemade cake, sweet dough pies and caters special occasions. I am putting this place on my list of 100 things to do before I die. After Bourdain's reaction; I would suggest we all should Read more: TecheToday.com - Bourdain visits Poche Bridge
