Opened in February 2011. For those of you familiar with the routine at Lockhart's Kreuz Market, says you should feel right at home. First of all, you order your meat at a counter located in front of the smoker. You order by the pound and it's served on butcher paper. Sauce and forks will be missing too The brisket, sausage, ribs and other meats are smoked over Texas post oak. Updated versions of classic southern sides and some Schmidt family favorites round out the menu. Of course, what is Texas barbeque without cold beer? Lockhart Smokehouse has the great ones ice cold and ready for your drinking pleasure.

Jill Grobowsky Bergus grew up steeped in the legacy of great BBQ. Her grandfather, Edgar "Papa" Schmidt ran the legendary Kreuz Market from the time he purchased it from the Kreuz family in 1948.She and her husband, Jeff are fulfilling one of their wildest dreams.Kismet and Jack Daniels brought them Pitmaster Tim McLaughlin, who trained in the original Kreuz Market in Lockhart. Lockkhart Smokehouse is the only place in the DFW area where you can get Kreuz Market Sausage. And just like the original, the meat is served on butcher paper, without sauce and without forks. The meat doesn't need sauce and your fork is at the end of your arm. The brisket, sausage, ribs and other meats are smoked over Texas post oak.
